ABOUT RAHEL

Rahel Stephanie is the founder of pop up sensation Spoons. On a mission to bring true Indonesian cuisine to the world’s table, she is one of the most exciting voices in food today.

Rising star Rahel founded Spoons, the sell-out Indonesian supper club, from her iPhone in 2019. Inspired by authentic regional dishes traversing the streets and tables of her home country and the Indonesian ‘aunties’ of YouTube who exchange tips and tricks with their communities.

Upon moving to London Rahel quickly noticed the widespread inaccurate representations of Indonesian cuisines in the Western world. She was compelled to reclaim her culture and set right misconceptions of Indonesian cuisine - the most famous example being ‘satay’, or sate as it is originally spelled, simply means skewer - no relation to peanut sauce at all! With this knowledge in her locker, Rahel is putting authentic Indonesian food firmly and accurately on the western map, one supper club at a time.

Fast forward three eventful years since Spoons’ humble beginnings and Rahel has gone on to dazzle a swathe of fans with events famously selling out in seconds and often compared to Glastonbury tickets or SUPREME drops. Her popularity not stopping there, she has recently partnered with fashion brands such as Flannels and GANNI and features in major publications such asThe Guardian and The Sunday Times. As of August 2022, Rahel has a recurring chef slot on Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch.
